Monica Jean Gillett was born and raised in Miami, Florida, but her roots were always in the North Carolina area. With family and friends living in Hendersonville, Ms. Gillett relocated here in 2000. She attended Blue Ridge Community College for her basic collegiate courses. She then transferred to the University of North Carolina in Asheville, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in 2003. Finally, she completed her legal studies at Campbell University, with the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, where she graduated with her Juris Doctorate degree.
Ms. Gillett worked for a small law firm in the Raleigh area while finishing law school and for a short time thereafter. At this firm she focused on Civil Issues, including Domestic and Family law, as well as Personal Injury claims.
In 2008, Ms. Gillett accepted a position as an Assistant District Attorney in the Henderson County District Attorney’s office. While there, she worked as a prosecutor in Criminal District Court.
Ms. Gillett has been practicing as a private attorney focusing on domestic and family law since 2009. She handles a variety of cases including claims for divorce, spousal support, equitable distributions, divorce form bed and board, custody, emergency custody, child support, termination of parental rights, name changes, adoptions, and more.
Ms. Gillett also serves as the town attorney for the Town of Laurel Park.
